The 57th Asahikawa Winter Festival in Hokkaido

The Asahikawa Winter Festival is, like the Sapporo Snow Festival, one of the largest winter events in Hokkaido. The greatest characteristic of this festival is the sizes of its snow statues. In 1994, one of the statues displayed at the festival entered the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s largest snow statue. On both sides of the avenue of Heiwa Dori Kaimono Koen, one of the two venues of the festival, ice sculptures delicately made by artists from Japan and from abroad will be displayed. Also, there will be a variety of events and street stalls for visitors to enjoy.

From February 6, 2016 to February 11, 2016

Shuttle buses, which stop at the downtown, the festival venue and the Asahiyama Zoo, are available from JR Asahikawa Station
